Metcon is an interval timer for CrossFit-style workouts. This page explains what data the app collects, what it doesn't, and why.

Data collected only if you opt in: anonymous usage analytics

Analytics is off by default. It only runs if you turn on Share anonymous usage data in the app's Settings, and you can turn it off again at any time in the same place. Turning it off stops all collection from that moment.

When it's on, the app uses PostHog (an analytics service, EU-hosted) to understand which features are used, so we can improve the app. This includes:

Your IP address is discarded and never stored — we do not derive or collect location data of any kind, not even approximate.

None of this analytics data is sold, and it is never shared with third parties for their own purposes — PostHog processes it solely on our behalf, as a data processor.

Data that stays on your device only

The following is stored locally on your phone and is never transmitted anywhere — not to us, not to any third party:

Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of this data. We have no copy of it.

What we don't collect

Bluetooth permission

The app requests Bluetooth permission (BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT) only to let you optionally connect a Bluetooth heart rate monitor (e.g. a Garmin watch's "Broadcast Heart Rate" feature, or a chest strap) so your live heart rate can be shown during a workout. This is entirely optional and never used to determine your location — the app declares neverForLocation to Android accordingly.

Notifications

The app can schedule local notifications directly on your device — a next-day workout reminder if you opt in, and workout-progress cues if your screen locks mid-workout. These are scheduled entirely on-device using Android's alarm system; no push notification server is involved, and no notification content is sent to us.

Third-party services

Data deletion

Since the app has no account system, we have no way to identify which analytics data belongs to you specifically. If you'd like your anonymous analytics history removed, contact us at the email below with your approximate device/usage dates and we'll delete matching records on request.

Children's privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
